Prophet Hezekiah Oladeji has been named as the new General Evangelist of the Christ Apostolic Church, the selection was made after the retirement of Prophet Samuel Abiara, who lately reached the age of 75.
Oladeji was an evangelist at CAC Canaanland until his appointment by the Supreme Council, the church’s highest governing body, which includes all principal officers, all Assistant General Superintendents as well as other senior officers.
Based on sources in the church, there had been usually three applicants for the position, from which the Supreme Council would choose one, “based on the leading of the Holy Spirit.”
Abiara said, “I’m happy. I’m very happy and I thank God for His grace. In the rules of the church, when you clock 75, you retire, and that was what happened. I was even one of those who announced him as the new General Superintendent. So, I’m happy.”
When our correspondent called the church’s Director of Publicity, Pastor Ademisoye Alawode, he said he could not comment on the story as he would need clarification on the issue.
“We will release a statement when we have clarification,” he added.
